Mike Dunn appointed to Board
Mike Dunn has been selected to replace Duane Spicer on the LPA Board. Spicer recently resigned his position. He was also the Treasurer of the Board. Dunn is a former Board member, familiar with operations and budgets. Ron Morden was appointed to serve as Board Treasurer, a position he has held before. Dunn will serve on the Par 3 and Water Safety committees.

Rip Rap Project Bid Let
The LPA Board has let bids for the rip rap project below the dam. Over 2000 tons of high density rock will be used to protect the riverbank and base of the dam. Peterson Contractors of Reinbeck, Iowa, was the low bidder at just over $170,000, an amount under engineer's estimates. Peterson has done prior work at the lake when it completed the rip-rap work on the upper basin.

Water Tower Repairs and Refurbishment
The old water tower has been offline through most of September while contractors sandblasted, repaired, and re-coated the interior of the 250,000 gallon tank. Some other minor improvements required by new regulations were also completed. The tank will be online again as soon as good water tests are returned.

Dredge to Work Upper Basin, then Burchfield Cove
The HORIZON dredge will do some quick work in the Upper Basin (which will be temporarily closed) and then go to work taking care of silt and sand deposits in Burchfield Cove. This will finish out most of the year.

Road and Culvert Repairs continue
Panorama Road will be closed at Horseshoe Cove for a period of time in October for the repairs of the road tube that was damaged during the late July deluge. Heavy erosion of water that flowed over the Par 3 pond dam resulted in road damage and damage to the 5 foot diameter tube. Cost of the project is about $27,000.

Hydrant Flushing--October 6-10
The water system will be flushed during the week of October 6-10. The flushing helps to removed deposits in the system, but in doing so, stirs up the system so that some areas may experience cloudy water. Members are advised to check water before doing laundry.

Lake Lowering at end of October
October 27 is the deadline as work on the rip rap at the dam will require a temporary 1-foot lowering of the lake. The lake level will depend upon inflow at that time. Members should plan accordingly.

Budget in Process--2009 official meeting dates set
The LPA Board has begun the 2009 budget process and will be discussing a number of approaches to meeting future needs. An informational meeting has been set for February 21 at 10 a.m. for issues that will be on the LPA 2009 ballot. A supplementary meeting will be held on April 30th at 7 p.m. for those who aren't able to make the February meeting, which is required under LPA by-laws. The annual meeting will be May 16 at 10 a.m. at the LPN Conference Center.
