Hydrant Flushing is occuring this week--October 6-10

The purpose of flushing the water system is to get rid of accumulated sediments. Anytime flushing occurs there may be a temporary cloudiness from the changes in water flow. Use discretion in doing laundry this week.

Water rates are being increased. Some printings of the newsletter noted that rates are effective January 1. For clarification, the rate increase for overall usage is effective October 1 and will be reflected in the January 1, 2009 statement. The base rate increase will also be reflected in the January 1 billing.

Be sure to see the announcement regarding lowering the lake level for dam work that appears on the announcement page.

Many projects are underway with dredging, drainage projects and ongoing road repairs on the list. The heavy rains of the summer created numerous issues for the maintenance department to deal with, including plugged ditches and washouts. These repair jobs will be ongoing this fall. The riprap below the dam will most likely be repaired this fall--late in the season. That will require some lowering of the lake water level. The dredge will be moving to Burchfield Cove later in the season to remove accumulating silt, sand and gravel
